Bikepack UK to Ukraine: My Journey Begins

Just finished packing my bike & now it’s ready to ride! Changes this time include nice, new 14 litre Revélate Portage Panniers, a dynamo to feed Exposure’s new Revo 5 light/charging port & a few additional gadgets.

With one week to trial the bike (&me) – I’m trusting that is enough!

On 29th June the ride begins heading to the south coast to Dover, with a couple of days in London visiting family. The journey should see me arrive in Ukraine in early August.

      1. G’Day John’

It is now some 3 weeks since this E’Mail  was received.  By now we imagine you  have either completed or are well on your way thru’ Ukraine.

We had a look at your blog the other day and impressed with the photos.

Would love to have been there , but your method of transport to us is very rudimentary(at our age comfort is a top prioroty).

Do hope the weather and political situation are being kind to you and have safe travels.

Please give our best wishes to Chrisine

        Good Luck and our regards

      2. Hi both, lovely to hear from you.
I do try & post everyday. Today is 30July & just finished/poster Day32. My ETA for Kosmach, Ukraine is 12August – 7 days after my 73 birthday so will sadly be celebrating on my own with a rehydration drink!

The area around Kosmach is quite safe but things can change so I do keep a close eye on things & have people on the ground regularly updating me.
        Cheers!
