Day 31 Rybnik PL – Bielsko-Biała PL

My hosts: Mateusz & Martha Matuszewski
+ their boys Michael 5, Michek 9 & Mikolaj 11

Missing is Daisy – their shitzu dog

Mateusz & Martha set breakfast early, Mateusz & the two older boys were off to football training at 9am. Martha & I continued chatting & watching Michael work on his jigsaws & educational colouring book on Poland’s regions/cities, it’s history & animals. Martha commented – Poland is a great country & it’s important her children learn this.

I set off for Bnielsko-Białan around 10am, a much shorter but hillier & hotter journey. It was a privilege to stay with these guys – Before leaving, Martha thanked me for visiting, which was quite humbling since it was they who had shared their lovely home with me!

Lots of pleasant villages, all with grand churches
Park lined with lovely buildings, cafe’s & restaurants on the edge of Maciek Zdrojowy spar lake about 10mls NW of Bielsko-Biała. Its cobbled streets & overall retro feel draws you in & guess it’s a big tourist draw.
One of the many buildings that line the spar lake

Today’s 40ml ride was hilly & hot & not too eventful. Except, 10mls out, I stopped at Sklep Rowerowy Rowermaniak Bike Place to sort out my dynamo. 20 mins later it appears to be fixed & insisted on no charge!

Tomorrow I get my first taste of the Carpathian Mountains with lots of climbing. I’m fearing the main challenge will be the weather. It’s forecast to be a sunny 32C + headwind!
